Tradition of Change in Normaltown

Although the new MCG-UGA Medical Partnership will spend its first two years in a renovated mill on the edge of the UGA campus, it will then move to an historic location on Prince Avenue in the Normaltown neighborhood of Athens, GA. This 58-acre campus was a teachers’ college and a training ground for generations of Navy officers before the Board of Regents acquired it to create a new Health Sciences Campus. Len Sapera has a unique perspective on this transition: he is a former commandant of the Navy Supply Corps School and now chairs the foundation that supports Athens Regional Medical Center, which will mostly likely become an academic medical center soon.
